When the lights come on, the whole image will turn black. How can we remove unexposed, insoluble silver chloride?

  • AgCl(s) + NaCl(aq) = AgCl2-(aq) + Na+(aq)

  • AgCl(s) + 2 NH3(aq) = Ag(NH3)2+(aq) + Cl-(aq)

  • AgCl(s) + 2 Na2S2O3(aq) = Ag(S2O3)23-(aq) + Cl-(aq) + 4 Na+(aq)

Sodium thisulfate, cousin to Glauber's Salt, may be manufactured from the "tank waste" of the Leblanc Process.
