Batch Records

Batch records will be kept in a bound notebook. The Recording Partner may check it out of the Chemistry stockroom at his convenience. It must be returned by 5:00 PM on Friday afternoon. Everything in inventory should have a batch code and a complete record of how it was made. This includes the sources and weights for all materials used and a brief description of the procedure. Reference may be made to a procedure in a book. The value of materials used should be specified for use by the Accounting Partner. Some examples are shown below:

Procedure from Scientific Soapmaking 6.1 was used. Water and NaOH were weighed analytically into a 2000-mL PP bottle. Then water was weighed synthetically to bring the concentration to 500 ppt. $6.37/1854 g = $0.00344/g. (Initialed by Walter Webb)

Procedure from Scientific Soapmaking 6.5 was used. Oil, water, scent, Lye weighed synthetically into a 1-gallon jug. Poured into vertical mold at medium trace. Unmolded, cut, and beveled into 9 full bars, with 0.5 bars leftover. $5.09/9 bars = 0.57/bar. (Initialed by Cal Cavitch)
