!DCA 04/001 ZDC AIRSPACE ROCKET LAUNCH ACT WI AN AREA DEFINED AS 3NM RADIUS OF LVL331027.4 SFC-6600FT 1704021500-1704022200

We had just about the prettiest weather we have had in a long time. The Johnsons brought a gas grill and served hot dogs for everyone. The flying was also good, with all rockets recovered intact.

Kevin Johnson flew his Eagle Claw on an H163. The flight was unstable, and the rocket probably needs some nose weight. Tim Raney flew Experimental Rocket #14 twice, once on an H123 Skidmark, and once on an H143 Smokey Sam. Both flights were arrow straight with perfect recovery thanks to his Jolly Logic Chute Release. Bill Spencer flew his King KABoom, a scratch-built rocket designed around a nose cone recovered from a garbage can. He had two flights on H90 and H135 motors. Kevin Dunn flew his veteran Drago the Red on a G54 long burn, and Darkstar Talby on the mighty I204. All in all, it was a grand day out.
